Message It is important when cutting the oil filter open for investigation that you do not create metal debris that would screw the results.

If you are only doing it for a class, anything that can make a clean cut will work.

:I've seen those write-ups where someone compares two oil filters by dissecting them. What would you use to cut one apart...just a hacksaw?
:The reason I'm asking is for a speech I'll be doing for my Public Speaking class. It has to be a demonstration, so I'm going to talk about how to change your own oil...while giving folks the basics on weights of oils, how the filter works, and why Jiffy Lube sucks. I'll probably pass around the cut open filter so the class can get a closer look. Any input is appreciated, and maybe you can give me some ideas for this demonstration.
